Merry Christmas! The build up to Christmas day is always so big and exciting and I’m always a little bit sad when it’s over knowing I’ll have to wait another entire year. I hope those of you who celebrate Christmas are all having a lovely relaxing day, whether it be with your friends, family or cat ect.
I took the photo above while I was in London just before Christmas and thought it would be the perfect time to share it with you all. It was absolute dream of mine to be in the UK during the festive period but since the flights are so ridiculously expensive during the holidays, I had to come back early.
To be honest, I felt like I already celebrated Christmas while I was there though because all the Christmas decorations went up half way through November along with adverts and carols on the telly. Plus, I had my first roast dinner which was so delicious!
I thought it would be a good opportunity to answer the questions from the Christmas Tag!
Contents:
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Not really to be honest because I live with my mum and she’s Chinese and didn’t really celebrate Christmas growing up. I personally love Christmas but since it’s just us too, there’s not much we usually do other than have a roast dinner and call up some friends and family.
Usually, I’ll see my dad then the Sunday of Christmas week and have a nice lunch somewhere with him. On Christmas Eve, mum and I like to watch the Carols by Candlelight on the television.
What is your favourite Christmas song?
I actually love so many Christmas songs! My favourite traditional carol is Away in the Manger or Celine Dion singing O’ Holy Night and my favourite modern song would be either It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas or Do you hear what I hear.
What is your favourite Christmas drink?
Hot chocolate. There’s not really many festive drinks down in Australia, I don’t think I’ve ever seen egg nog being sold.
What is your favourite Christmas film?
Arthur Christmas or not sure if it counts but Merry Christmas Mr Bean!
To mince pie or not to?
Not, not, not! I don’t actually like many Christmas desserts because I like raisins separately but not mixed in with my food.
Real or fake tree?
Real tree but I’ve never actually had a real tree. Mum and I have used the same Christmas tree since I can remember until this year when we upgraded and bought a bigger fake tree. The old one was only about a metre tall and was beginning to fall apart.
Do you have a theme for decorating the tree?
Not until this year when I went with silver and red. I think it’s nice to have a theme actually, I use to just put on whatever baubles I could find.
Do you open your presents Christmas morning or evening?
Morning, duh! How can anyone wait until Christmas evening to open the presents.
Giving presents or receiving presents?
Both. I love making people happy and giving them little random objects to show how much I know them and I love getting the same. It’s not about how expensive or big the present is, it’s just the personal touches that I love the most!
Are you a pro-present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I’m a pro-present wrapper. I’m such a perfectionist that it frustrates me and makes wrapping presents such a chore. I actually really don’t like wrapping presents but when I’m finished, I feel so satisfied and eager to give the presents away!
Who is your favourite person to buy presents for?
I love buying presents for the younger members of my family like my baby cousins because I love seeing their pure innocent joy of receiving them.
What is your favourite Christmas food?
Gingerbread cookies! I love gingerbread cookies so much I make them randomly throughout the year and an even bigger batch of them during Christmas!
What is your favourite makeup look for the festive season?
A classic shimmery gold eyeshadow and red lips! In saying that though, I never wear makeup on Christmas day. If I had a work/school Christmas party I would but on Christmas day, I’m usually at home with my mum avoiding the heat so I don’t really bother.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
When I was younger I use to but that was when I had several smaller and inexpensive presents. Now I usually get one main present and sometimes a few smaller ones so I just open it on Christmas morning!
Do you like to dress up for Christmas or stay in the PJs?
I stay in my PJs, I think that’s the way to be! Especially because it’s so hot in Australia and there’s no cute little Christmas jumpers. Sometimes, I’ll stay in my pyjama bottoms and put on my Christmas T-shirt.
Can you name all of Santa’s Reindeer?
Comet, Cupid, Vixon, Blitzon, Prancer, Dasher, Dancer and Rudolph? I think I’m missing a few – Oh I checked and I forgot Donner!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
Possibly since I was born in the UK and lived there for a few years before moving to Australia but not one that I can remember. I’ve had almost white Christmas because I was in Toronto a bit after Christmas and almost all the decorations were still up.
One year in Australia, we actually had a bad hail storm on Christmas day and all the streets were covered in little lumps of ice. Does that count?
